Snapshots of Kiwis bearing fruit in Oceania…

Fiji

We had the most amazing day recently. We went to the beach for a baptismal service and it was a piece of Fiji paradise – white sand, crystal clear water, palm trees waving in the wind, people brightly dressed, lots of smiles, young and old, black and white, all in one accord. Nine people were baptised that day.

There were 29 of us there and the feeling was that of a strong committed family. What a blessing! The baptised made promises to our Father and a public declaration to do their best for our heavenly Father according to His instructions. Others made promises to help and support each other. Together we made promises to serve the Lord and to share His work and His Word.

We all swam together and played a while in the sun and the sea. We then shared communion, which was very moving as we got the older ladies to lead it when they had never done it before. They prayed for each one as we partook of the emblems. Then the oldest and the youngest of our group shared in cutting a cake to celebrate our unity.

Everyone came back to the “Compassion For Fiji’s Children” discipleship school campus and had a shared lunch fit for Kings and Queens. After everyone pitched in with the dishes, the day drifted on. Some went home, others found a cool spot for a snooze, and the children made the most of having some toys to play with. What’s remarkable about this picture is that most of the group used to be Hindu.

Shiu and Lesley work among the poor rural Hindu and are involved in discipleship training in Rakiraki Fiji.
